Oftentimes I get asked: what is coaching?
The easiest way to explain it, is to imagine you want to learn how to ride a bike.
If you were to approach a consultant with that question, he would undoubtedly start by getting on a bike himself, make note of his own observations and write a manual on how to ride a bike and hand that over to you. Up to you to make it work using his instructions.
Imagine now approaching a therapist with the same question. Most likely the therapist would walk you up the bike and stand next to you asking how that feels, what prior associations you have with bikes, where those would come from, etc.
Approaching a coach with the same question, the coach would entice you to get on the bike and say that he’ll walk along side you until you can do it on your own.
